Okara AI

The simplest way to run five open-source AI models from one login with built-in Reddit outreach and persistent project workspaces.

A genuinely useful multi-model platform for operators who want open-source AI access without three separate subscriptions. The Reddit Agent is unique, the credit pricing is transparent, but no frontier models and thin support keep this short of a full ChatGPT replacement.

    Rating: 3.7 / 5

Okara AI is a multi-model AI chat platform. Not a copywriting tool, not a ChatGPT clone. It bundles open-source models (DeepSeek V3.2, Mistral Large 3, Qwen 3 Coder, GLM 4.5 Air, Kimi K2) under one credit pool with built-in tools for web search, project workspaces, and automated Reddit outreach.

Best For Solopreneurs and small teams who want one login and one credit pool for multiple open-source AI models. Especially useful if you switch between models for different tasks (coding, research, writing) and want to keep conversation context.

The free tier ships 2,000 credits, roughly 20,000 messages on the cheaper models. The trade-off is open-source only. No GPT-4, no Claude, no Gemini. The platform layers tools on top of chat: a Reddit Agent that monitors subreddits and drafts replies, project workspaces with file upload and persistent memory, plus built-in web and YouTube search.

    Who this is for

Okara AI works for operators who use AI daily but want to experiment across models without committing to one provider. If you have been paying $20/month for ChatGPT Plus and wondering whether DeepSeek or Mistral would handle your use case better, Okara AI lets you test that without three separate accounts.

The Reddit Agent makes this relevant for founders and marketers running product distribution on Reddit. You configure the agent with your product URL, set targeting keywords, and it monitors subreddits for relevant threads, then drafts contextual replies you review before posting. This is a niche feature, but if Reddit is part of your distribution stack, it is hard to find this elsewhere in a single platform.

Projects fit people juggling multiple work streams. Each project gets isolated chat history, uploaded files, custom instructions, and persistent memory. If you run a consulting practice with multiple clients, or manage separate product lines, this keeps context separated without a tangle of chat threads.

    How we tested

We ran Okara AI on the free tier with 2,000 credits from March 1 to April 10, 2026, exercising the chat interface across four models (DeepSeek V3.2, Mistral Large 3, Qwen 3 Coder, GLM 4.5 Air), the Projects feature with file uploads, the Reddit Agent setup and configuration flow, and the web search tool. We cross-referenced UI behavior against a hands-on video review by Daniel from Tech & Data on YouTube.

Scoring follows our six-dimension rubric: features, usability, pricing, support, AI quality, and automation depth. Each score is 0.0 to 5.0 with a written justification tied to specific observed behavior during the test period. The weighted overall rating uses Features 25%, Usability 20%, Pricing 20%, Support 15%, with AI Quality and Automation splitting the remaining 20%. Full methodology here.

    Feature score deep-dive

The scorecard above is a summary. Each dimension below is the full breakdown: what drove the number, what we observed during testing, and where the weaknesses sit.

    Features — 3.8 / 5

Okara AI bundles five open-source language models (DeepSeek V3.2, Mistral Large 3, Qwen 3 Coder, GLM 4.5 Air, Kimi K2) under a single credit pool. Projects add persistent workspaces with file uploads, custom instructions, and memory. The Reddit Agent is the standout addition: it monitors subreddits for relevant posts and drafts contextual responses for review. What is missing: no image generation models beyond a basic Image tab, no code execution environment, no plugin or extension ecosystem.

    Usability — 4.0 / 5

The dark-themed interface is uncluttered. Model switching is one click from the dropdown, and each model's credit multiplier shows inline (Mistral Large 3 at 0.07x, GLM 4.5 Air at 0.04x). Project creation is straightforward with three labeled panels (Instructions, Files, Memory). The Reddit Agent setup walks through URL input, keyword config, and monitoring settings in logical steps. The friction point is the absence of keyboard shortcuts or any visible power-user features.

    Pricing — 4.2 / 5

The free tier ships with 2,000 credits, which translates to about 50,000 messages on GLM 4.5 Air at 0.04x or about 28,500 on Mistral Large 3 at 0.07x. Most users mixing models land near 20,000 messages on the free tier. Per-model credit transparency beats flat-fee subscriptions where actual usage cost is opaque. For solopreneurs evaluating multiple open-source models, the free tier covers weeks of moderate use without a card on file.

    Support — 3.0 / 5

Okara AI is a young product. There is no searchable help center, no community forum, no published response-time SLA, and no live chat or ticket button visible during testing. The in-app onboarding shows suggested prompts and a personalization panel, but troubleshooting paths are sparse. This is the weakest dimension and the primary risk for users who need help fast. If you hit an edge case, expect to figure it out yourself.

    AI quality — 3.5 / 5

DeepSeek V3.2 handles general chat and business strategy prompts cleanly. Qwen 3 Coder is adequate for code generation. Mistral Large 3 handles research queries competently. The gap shows on complex multi-step reasoning, long-document analysis, and nuanced creative writing, where GPT-4o and Claude Opus still lead. For drafting, brainstorming, summarization, and code snippets (the bulk of solopreneur AI use), the available models deliver.

    Automation — 3.5 / 5

The Reddit Agent monitors subreddits daily, finds posts that match include/exclude keywords, and generates contextual replies with configurable response length (50 to 2,000 characters) for your review before posting. It does not auto-post, which is the right default. Beyond the Reddit Agent there is no workflow builder, no scheduled tasks, no automation chaining. If you need broader automation, you stitch this to other tools manually because there is no API or webhook.

    Model selection and credit system

Okara AI's core value is model aggregation. Instead of signing up for DeepSeek's chat, Mistral's API, and Zhipu AI separately, you get all of them through one interface with a shared credit pool.

Okara AI model selector showing DeepSeek V3.2, Mistral Large 3, Qwen 3 Coder, and GLM 4.5 Air with credit costs
Model picker with per-message credit multiplier shown inline. Switching mid-conversation preserves context.

The model picker displays each model's credit multiplier next to its name. During testing the available models and their costs were: DeepSeek V3.2 (default), Mistral Large 3 (0.07x), Qwen 3 Coder (0.06x), GLM 4.5 Air (0.04x), Kimi K2 (varies). The categories dropdown organizes models by task: Research (8 models), Writing (7 models), plus additional categories. You can also switch between Chat and Image generation tabs.

Model switching mid-conversation preserves context. As Daniel from Tech & Data noted in his hands-on review, the platform allows switching to GLM mid-conversation without losing context or resetting the chat. Verified during testing on the live Okara AI app.

Credit math With 2,000 credits and GLM 4.5 Air at 0.04x per message, you get roughly 50,000 messages on the cheapest model. On Mistral Large 3 at 0.07x, that drops to about 28,500. Most users mixing models land near 20,000 total on the free tier.

    Projects and context management

Projects are named workspaces that isolate conversations, files, and instructions for a specific goal. Each project has three panels: Instructions (custom system prompts), Files (PDFs, documents, text), and Memory (auto-saved context from conversations).

Okara AI project creation interface showing Q4 Product Launch with Instructions, Files, and Memory panels
Project workspace with Instructions, Files, and Memory panels. Each project keeps its own context across model switches.

During testing we created a Q4 Product Launch project, uploaded a product brief, set custom instructions for communication style, and started a conversation using Kimi K2. The Memory panel populated automatically with key details. Subsequent chats in the same project retained context without reprompting.

Practical use: a consultant managing three clients creates three projects. Each has its own uploaded documents, tone instructions, and conversation history. No cross-contamination. This is table-stakes functionality for ChatGPT (Custom GPTs) and Claude (Projects), but Okara AI implements it cleanly across multiple model backends. You can use DeepSeek for one project and Mistral for another, with each maintaining its own context.

Hidden gotcha: file size limits not surfaced The Files panel accepts PDFs and documents, but maximum file sizes and total storage limits were not displayed in the UI during testing. If you plan to upload large datasets or image-heavy documents, verify limits on the Okara AI site before committing.

    Reddit Agent for automated outreach

The Reddit Agent is Okara AI's most distinctive feature. It automates finding relevant Reddit posts about your product's niche and generating contextual replies for your review before posting.

Okara AI Reddit Agent setup screen with product URL input field and Reddit Agent badge
Reddit Agent setup. Enter the product URL, the agent crawls it, then you configure keyword targeting and monitoring frequency.

Setup runs in steps. First, enter the website of the product or service you want to promote. The agent crawls the URL to understand the product. Then configure targeting: keywords to include, keywords to avoid, monitoring frequency (daily was the option during testing), email alerts toggle, and max response length (configurable between 50 and 2,000 characters).

Okara AI Reddit Agent configuration showing custom instructions, response length, monitoring frequency, and keyword settings
Custom instructions panel. Default tone guidelines push for genuine value first, product mention only when directly relevant.

The custom instructions panel sets tone guidelines. The default template includes: be extremely helpful and authentic, provide genuine value first, only mention your product if it is a direct and relevant solution to the specific problem the poster describes. This is the right default. Reddit communities are hostile to obvious marketing, and the agent's instruction set acknowledges that.

Once configured, it generates contextual responses encouraging people to try your product. After setup is complete, the agent continues searching for opportunities in the background.

The practical limit: you review every generated response before it goes live. The agent does not auto-post. This is a feature, not a limitation. Automated Reddit posting without review would get accounts banned quickly. The agent handles research and drafting. You handle the final review and the post.

Okara AI ships a built-in web search tool accessible from the Tools menu in the chat interface. During testing we used it to surface trending discussions about productivity tools. The search returned results with source links and generated a summary across multiple sources.

Okara AI web search interface showing real-time search results and AI-generated summary of productivity discussions
Web search runs inline within the chat. Results pull from live sources with citations, and the model summarizes within your existing conversation.

The search tool pulls from live web sources and displays results inline within the chat. The model then summarizes findings with citations. This is similar to Perplexity AI's approach, but integrated within the multi-model chat context rather than as a standalone product. Additional tools visible in the interface include YouTube search (for finding and summarizing video content) and the Tools panel from the chat input bar. The Image generation tab sits alongside Chat, though we did not test image generation depth in this cycle.

Where web search saves time If you use AI for market research or competitive analysis, the web search tool drops a step. Instead of searching Google, copying results, and pasting them into your AI chat, you do it in one prompt. The model pulls sources and synthesizes within your existing conversation context.

Pros & cons at a glance

    What works

    • Five open-source models under one credit pool. No juggling separate accounts or API keys
    • Reddit Agent is genuinely unique. Find posts, draft replies, no auto-post (correct default)
    • Projects with Files, Instructions, and Memory keep multi-client workflows isolated
    • Credit transparency. You see the per-message cost before sending, not after the bill
    • Free tier is generous enough for real evaluation (about 20,000 messages mixed-model)

    What doesn't

    • No frontier models. Zero GPT-4o, no Claude, no Gemini
    • No external integrations. No API, no webhooks, no Zapier or Make connector
    • Thin support. No searchable docs, no forum, no live chat, no published SLA
    • File upload size and storage limits not surfaced in the UI
    • Image generation is a basic tab, not a full image-model selector
    • Newer platform. Long-term roadmap and uptime history are unproven
